It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Michael Maher, lovingly known as "Kenny" or "Wally," Uncle Kenny or simply “MOE UK”. Kenny passed away on July 11, 2026, at the age of 59.
Born on May 30, 1967, in Yonkers, New York, Kenny was a proud lifelong Yonkers resident. He attended St. Anthony's Grade School and graduated from Gorton High School. Throughout his career, he was a member of the Steamfitters Union Local 21. He also worked for many years as a residential painter before serving as a security officer at Empire City Casino and St. John's Hospital, both in Yonkers.
Kenny had a gift for making people smile. Warm, outgoing, and genuinely kind, he never met a stranger. Kenny had a way of making everyone around him feel welcome, valued, and at ease. More than anything, Kenny will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious smile, and signature greeting, “How are you, fella?” He was truly a gentle giant who made everyone feel like a friend. Whether sharing a laugh, telling a story, or simply enjoying the company of family and friends, Kenny brought joy wherever he went. There was never a dull moment when he was around, and he was always the life of the party.
He was a wonderful cook who could turn whatever happened to be in the refrigerator into a delicious meal. Kenny was also a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan, proudly displaying his loyalty with a Vikings tattoo on his arm. Kenny never

their biggest fan. For more than 30 years, he was a standout pitcher on numerous softball teams, earning the respect and admiration of teammates and competitors alike. Kenny was widely regarded as one of the finest softball pitchers in Westchester County. His competitive spirit and talent helped lead teams including the Ramblers, Ameriprise Highlanders, Nugent’s Bar, and The Goonies to numerous city championships and several Yonkers Softball Tournament titles.
Above all else, Kenny cherished his family. He loved spending time with his brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Some of his happiest memories were made during Christmas celebrations on Storey Lane in Homefi eld, where he enjoyed decorating the house and helping create the warm, fun traditions that brought everyone together. His love for family was unwavering, and the memories he created will be cherished for generations.
Kenny was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Wallace and Dorothy Maher, and his older brothers, John and Robert "Bobby" Maher.
He is survived by his loving siblings: Wallace "Wally" Maher Jr. (Diane), William "Billy" Maher (Linda), Kevin Maher (MaryBeth), Thomas "Tommy" Maher (Pam), Maureen Maher, and Kathleen "Kathy" Horrigan (nee Maher) (Kevin).
