Lena Casella

Lena Casella (nee Massi), a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Friday November 22, 2013 at the Shore Meadows Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Toms River, NJ. She was 97 years old. She was born on April 27, 1916 in the Bronx where she was raised and educated and graduated from high school. Mrs. Casella was a longtime parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church. She was an avid reader and loved music. She also enjoyed cooking and caring for her family. On September 19, 1943, she married her loving husband, John N. Casella in Immaculate Conception Church in the Bronx. Mr. Casella died on January 22, 2009. Mrs. Casella is survived by two sons, Nicholas J. Casella and his wife Alice, residing in Manchester, NJ and Michael J. Casella and his wife Shelley, residing in Rehoboth, DE. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters. Visiting Hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Anthony’s Church on Monday November 25th at 10 am. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
