

Louis N. Beniamino of Yonkers died on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the age of 85. Born on July 23, 1924 to Nicholas and Antoinette (Cubello ) Beniamino in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. Mr. Beniamino worked as an auto mechanic for Lou's Auto Service on Saw Mill River Rd in Yonkers, which he owned from 1959 to 1978. He then worked with his son Donald where he made and built furniture at Saw Mill Wood. On August 1, 1948, he married Nancy Pistone in Sacred Heart Church; she survives. Louis was a World War II Army Veteran, was involved with the invasion at Normandy and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, an avid bowler with the Men's Business League at Homefield Bowl. He enjoyed fishing, was a loyal Yankee fan and to his family was known as the "Candy Man" for his love of chocolate. Besides his wife Nancy, he is survived by his four children, Louis (Deborah) Beniamino of Port St. Lucie, FL, Donald (Denise) Beniamino of New Rochelle, Ann Marie (Andrew) Sokolik of Tarrytown and Regina Salvatore of Yonkers. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren; Joseph, Gino, Kristina, Adam, Tiana, Andrea, Dana, Lorina Lee and Tyler and his great-granddaughter Sophia Grace; his sister Angela (Gigi) Cappelli. He was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Romano, Rose Kermashek and Millie Pierorazio. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, April 7 at 9:30 AM. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 1 St. Jude Ave., Memphis, TN.
