He was born on July 20, 1943 to Antonio and Maria Rosa Pinho Marques in Avanca, Portugal where he was raised and educated. Mr. Marques was an assembly line worker at General Motors Corporation in Tarrytown for many years and was a maintenance manager at the time of his retirement. He was a longtime member of the United Autoworker’s Union. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and was a member of the Portuguese American Club. He enjoyed playing the harmonica and doing the jumble in the Daily News every day. He was also a longtime N.Y. Met fan and was a lifetime fan of the Benfica Futbol Club. On May 29, 1965, he married his loving wife, Maria Borges in St. Mary’s Church in Elizabeth, N.J. Mrs. Marques survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Tony Marques and his wife Bridget of Mahopac, Norman Marques and his wife Laura of Mahopac and Richard Marques and his wife Katia of Yonkers and one daughter, Jennifer Napolitano and her husband Frank of Ardsley. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Tyler, Sienna, Miranda, Maximiliano and Alessia. He was predeceased by a brother, Sergio Marques. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday 4-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Friday September 7th at 9:30am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
