Margret Embree

Sept 14, 1931 – January 21, 2018

Beloved mother of Raymond, William (deceased), Dennis and Richard and loving grandmother to Dennis, Jr. She was a Yonkers native residing in the same Woodworth Avenue address for over 50 years. She worked for 46 years as a meat wrapper for Shopwell, and later, A&P. She loved her family and her community. Margie spent many fond years as a volunteer in the charity shop at Our Lady of the Rosary. She enjoyed the simple things in life: excursions on the Old Put Line, visiting the Barnes and Noble Book Annex on 19th Street in Manhattan, bingo night, word search puzzles and reading Danielle Steele novels. In the last few years of her life, she fought a brave battle against breast cancer. And while it took many things from her, it never took her fighting spirit nor the clarity of her purpose and will. Margie was a woman who lived life on her own terms. She will be deeply missed. Visiting hours will be in the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday January 23rd from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday at 9:30am. Cremation will follow at Ferncliff Crematory.
