Mary Baratka

Mary Baratka of Yonkers died on Sunday September 5, 2010 at age 89. Mary was born on March 9, 1921 in Yonkers to Vincent and Mary (McPhillips) Cashin. She graduated from Academy of Our Lady of Good Council in White Plains. Mary was a veteran of the Woman’s Army Corp in WWII. She married Stephen E. Baratka, Sr. on March 6, 1943 in St. Cecelia’s Church in Manhattan, he died in 1990. Mary retired in 1977 from U.S. Health Club. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and crossword puzzles. Survivors include a son Jim, a daughter Susan of Florida, a daughter-in-law Maureen, 2 grandchildren Eric and Kathleen; she was predeceased by a son Stephen E. Baratka, Jr. 1 brother Vincent, 2 sisters Rita and Regina. Visiting hours will be in the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Wednesday September 8th from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church on Thursday at 11am. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
