Mary E. Bobrovsky

Mary Edith Bobrovsky formerly of Samson, Alabama and Yonkers, NY passed away on Sunday, July 22 beside her daughters

and close friend, Prince Lee, and several caring and supportive staff from Highland Rehabilitation & Nursing Home in Middletown, NY where she resided with her daughter for over a decade since her husband of almost 50 years passed, Ernest Joseph Bobrovsky. Her first daughter, Doreen Susan Bobrovsky, referred to by her mother as Number One, took care of her Mom after her stroke and Parkinson’s disease for many years. They lived together for almost 60 years. Mary’s second daughter, Sherry M. Collins, has been married to Dr. Paul Collins of 31 years. Mary was blessed with their triplet grandchildren, Megan, Jake and Daniel who are all in college. Mary, known as Edith for most of her life, was the eldest daughter of Mary Etta Dannelly and William W. Dannelly, former residents of Alabama, Florida and Yonkers, NY. Mary’s older brother, Emmett Dannelly is formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY and currently in Oxford, NC. Mary’s younger sister, Maxine Jackson, resides with her husband, Joe, in Clearwater, FL. Mary had several nieces and nephews: Michael D., David J., David D., Steven D. Michael J., Emily Tyler, and Debbie Zigabarra of Little River, SC and Laurie Tarbox of Dunedin, FL. Grand nephews and nieces include Sophie Tyler and Kevin Dannelly of Oxford NC, Logan and Austin Jackson of Dunedin, FL. Mary graduated from Gorton High School in Yonkers where she played Basketball. She attended Nepperhan Baptist Church in Yonkers and Lambs of Christ services in Middletown. Mary taught herself to sew and was very creative creating many gowns, costumes including Senator Flynn and people in the entertainment business such as Anne Bancroft, Bobby Breen, and Ms. Malone, opera singer, dancers. Her clothing was needed by many friends and acquaintances before Plus Size stores existed. She was especially appreciated for her custom doll clothes, too. In her senior years, Mary became a very good cook and enjoyed entertaining. Her favorite activity was taking long walks with Doreen. Funeral service will be on Friday at 10am in Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. Interment will be private at Calverton National Cemetery.
