

Mary Louise Broderick (nee Rosini) beloved mother, grandmother and friend died peacefully on March 19, 2014. Born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania on August 15, 1923, the youngest daughter of Anthony and Louisa (Santilli) Rosini. She graduated from St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing in New York City. She then worked as a registered nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital where she met the love of her life, her late husband, Thomas C. Broderick, M.D., who predeceased her in 2003. Dr. and Mrs. Broderick were married for 57 years. She resided in Yonkers, New York until 1979 and, thereafter, was a resident of Hastings-on-Hudson, New York and then Point Lookout, New York.
Mary’s greatest achievement was her devotion to her husband and nine children and their families, Mary (Tracy Forrestal), Margaret Shendal, Thomas, Jr. (Joan), John (Susanne Tighe), Anne Cahill (James Jenter), Brian (Laurie), Monica (Richard Guardino), Michael (Amy) and Jean. Her ultimate happiness was in being the beloved grandmother to her ten grandchildren, Adeana Shendal Greenlee (Billy), Thomas “Spike” III (Elizabeth Carey), Emily, Luke Cahill (Ailee O’Neill), Ian Cahill (Samantha Cohen) , Conor, Haley, Mary Michelle Guardino, the twins, Myles and Declan and her two great-grandchildren Otis and Etta Greenlee. She is also survived by several nieces & nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her seven brothers and one sister.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4pm to 8pm at the Whalen Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart, 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers, New York 10703 on Saturday March 22nd at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Annual Employee Appreciation Fund, Tuttle Center at The Amsterdam at Harborside, 300 East Overlook, Port Washington, NY 11050.
