
Mary Palovchik (nee Bertha), a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Monday March 17, 2014 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital. She was 99 years old. She was born on April 23, 1914 to Michael and Elizabeth Bertha in Yonkers where she was raised and educated. Mrs. Palovchik was a seamstress in the garment industry in New York City for many years. She was a longtime parishioner of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Yonkers. On March 2, 1935, she married her loving husband Frank Palovchik in Woodbridge, N.J. Mr. Palovchik died in 1985. Mrs. Palovchik is survived by a son, Frank Palovchik and his wife MaryAnn and two grandchildren, Anthony Palovchik and Diane Stone. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Michael & Joseph Bertha. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday morning only from 8:30 to 9:30 am. Funeral service will be held in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday March 21st at 10 am. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
