The proud daughter of Irish immigrants, Mary was born and raised in Yonkers, NY. When not tending to her family and home, Mary had an active presence in Yonkers politics and civic causes. She often put her quick wit and sharp mind to use advocating for her family, friends and the causes she believed in. Mary loved gardening, walking Pixie and traveling the country with her late husband, Bert. She also enjoyed taking care of the children of family friends in her Yonkers neighborhood, who loved her dearly and remained close with Mary until her passing. In recent years, Mary got to experience the joys of being a grandmother to Naomi and Roxy. She is survived by her daughter, Hilary, daughter-in-law, Angie, granddaughters, Naomi and Roxanne, sister, Brenda Castonguay, nephews, John, Michael and Kevin Castonguay and nieces, Jean Marie and Dawn Fynan. Donations in Mary's honor can be made to the Sepsis Alliance and Society of the Little Flower.
A memorial mass will be celebrated in Christ the King Church on Friday September 18th at 11am. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
