Mary Ellen Wanderman

Mary Ellen Wanderman, age 81, passed away peacefully July 31, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born November 13, 1940 in Co. Leitrim, Corriga, Ireland to Ames and Mary Ellen Curran (Gray). She immigrated to the United States in 1965.

She was a devoted wife to Phillip Joseph Wanderman whom she married on January 22, 1972.

Mary Ellen received her cosmetology license shortly after immigrating to the United States. After her marriage, she became a full time homemaker until her children were older and then worked at Hastings Own Bagel for many years. After leaving Hastings Own Bagel, she helped with childcare for her grandchildren whom she absolutely adored.

Mary Ellen always had a friendly smile and offered to help anyone in need. Everyone was always welcomed in her home. A warm cup of tea was offered to all that entered.

She was a woman of great faith in Jesus Christ and his blessed mother. She would say the Rosary often and check in with you about your attendance at Sunday mass.

Mary Ellen is survived by her husband, her sons, Charles (Tory) and Philip (Victoria) and her daughter, Patricia Griffith. She is also survived by her grandchildren, James Wanderman, Colin Wanderman and Maryellen Griffith along with her nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother James Curran.

Please join her family in celebrating her life at Whalen and Ball Funeral home on Thursday, August 4th located at 168 Park Avenue, Yonkers, NY from 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the King Church, 740 N. Broadway, Yonkers, NY on Friday, August 5th at 10am. Interment to follow at Rosehill Cemetery, Shrub Oak.
