MaryAnn Fitzgerald

MaryAnn Fitzgerald (nee Meltz) died on Sunday October 9, 2016 at age 87. She was born on March 3, 1929 to Emil and Anna Ringler Meltz in Yonkers where she was raised and educated. After graduating from Gorton HS she married Dennis Fitzgerald on June 10, 1950 in Holy Rosary Church in Yonkers. MaryAnn was a member of the Hudson River Museum, the Yonkers Home Bureau, the Scarsdale/Yonkers Elks, the Cola Senior Center and the Columbiettes. She worked at CIT as a Life Insurance operator and later for the Yonkers School System as a Teacher’s Aide. She is survived by her husband Dennis and her daughter Denise (Jay) Podell, 4 nephews Thomas Meltz, Richard Meltz, Edward Meltz and Thomas Kiernan and 2 nieces Ellen Russell and Ann Hawkins. She was predeceased by a brother Edward Meltz and a sister Dorothy Meltz. Visiting hours will be in the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. a Mass of Christian Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church on Thursday at 9:30am. Interment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in MaryAnn’s name to Calvary Hospital 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY.
