

Mattie Seabrook was born on April 23, 1942, to Isiah and Claretha Wilson in Hampton County, South Carolina. She was the youngest daughter of seven children. Mattie was educated in the Hampton County School System. Upon arriving to New York, she lived in Harlem, NY then moved to the Bronx, NY until she finally resided in Yonkers, NY. She was a dedicated member of over 50 years of Mother Walls AME Zion Church, Bronx, NY.
On June 19, 1965, she married Glenn Seabrook, and to their union they were blessed with six children, Melvin Seabrook (deceased), Joseph Seabrook (deceased), Stephanie Seabrook, Donella Seabrook, Blaine Jackson (foster son), Imani Jackson (foster daughter); three grandchildren; Maya Seabrook, Janyha Seabrook, and Rachel Seabrook; six siblings, Woodrow Wilson (Furman, SC), Eva White-Penn (Furman, SC), Richard Wilson (deceased), Lee Wilson (deceased), Kate Thompson (deceased), James Curtis Wilson (deceased); Uncle Jessie Wilson and wife Mabel (Washington, DC).
She also leaves to mourn: Sister-In-Laws Eleanor, Hattie, Phil, Janie, Sheila, Niecy, Charmaine, Donna; Brother-In-laws Nathaniel, Jim, Bernard, William Jr. and a host of nieces, grandnieces, nephews, grandnephews and an abundance of cousins.
Mattie suffered from many illnesses over the years. but she will always be known for her love of cooking and her willingness to feed people. She was the owner of “Mattie’s Flavors” catering.In addition to her love of cooking, she had a great love for children. She opened her home not only to family members, but the many children placed into foster care. Mattie was the matriarch of our family, she was the glue holding everything together. We might be apart but she will be with us everywhere we go….we will miss you.
