

Ecuador. She passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026 in Yonkers, New York surrounded by her loving family.
She was the eldest of eight children born to Romulo Criollo and Ester Monroy. Marlene was a kind, nurturing and compassionate woman, who dedicated her life to God and family. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were
the highlight of her life. She was a devout Catholic who regularly attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yonkers, NY, and practiced humble kindness in her everyday world. She was a devoted wife and the loving and compassionate matriarch of her family. Caring for her exquisite garden was yet another of her life’s great passions and pleasures which she expressed in the creation of beautiful gardens for all to see and enjoy.
Marlene married Angel Saa in 1957, and they emigrated from Ecuador to New York with their four children in 1969. She closely supervised her children’s education, and was proud that they went on to lead successful lives.

(Sandra); daughter, Jenny C. Saa-Tomala (Washington); son, Miguel E. Saa; daughter, Veronica Saa-Pabon (Jesus); brother, Romulo (residing in Ecuador); brother, Galo (residing in Yonkers); sister, Lolita (residing in Ecuador); brother, Andres (deceased); sister, Ines (deceased); brother, Cruz (deceased); sister, Yolanda (deceased); grandchildren and great grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends throughout Ecuador and the United States.

Visiting Hours will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave, Yonkers, NY 10703 on Friday September 18, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave, Yonkers, NY 10703 on Saturday September 19, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.
Interment will follow at St Mary's Cemetery, 114 Sprain Rd, Yonkers, NY 10710.
