Michael Joseph Hickey, beloved son, brother, and uncle, peacefully passed away on April 4, 2026, at the age of 87. Born in Yonkers on May 23, 1939, to Michael and Josephine (Murphy) Hickey, Michael resided there his entire life. He loved Yonkers, his lifelong friends, and his time growing up in Mulford Gardens. He attended Saunders High School and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps beginning in 1957.
Following his service, Michael spent 47 years with Con Edison, a career he truly cherished. It was there he built lasting friendships and created memories he spoke of with pride and joy throughout his life.
Michael was deeply cherished by his family—his brothers and sisters, and his nieces and nephews. He was a truly unselfish man who would do anything for those he loved. He consistently put others before himself and lived a life rooted in faith, humility, and devotion to his family.
He is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Josephine Hickey (Murphy), and his sisters, Mary Sheeran (Hickey) and Kathleen Bergin (Hickey).
He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
“Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’” — Matthew 25:34–40
