

Michael A. “Spaulding” Santamorena of Yonkers passed away on Sunday July 17th at the age of 97. Mr. Santamorena was born in Yonkers on June 26, 1914 to Anthony and Catherine (Fornabia) Santamorena where he was raised and attended local schools. He married Susan Shuler on September 22, 1949 in Most Holy Trinity Church, she died in 1999. Michael was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He is a member of VFW Post 1666 in Yonkers. He worked as a caddy at Sunningdale Country Club for 74 years retiring in 2002. During which time he caddied for Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and many other celebrities. Michael also worked as a maintenance man on the Sprain Brook Parkway retiring in 1979. His hobbies included golf and ice skating. He is survived by his daughter Susan, two grandchildren Matthew Guidice and Rebecca (Stephen) Sciane and one brother Anthony Santamorena, besides his wife he is also predeceased by three brothers Frank, Rocco and James. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Wednesday July 20th from 4pm to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Thursday at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
