
Mikolaj (Nick) Nowakowski passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at age 84. One of seven brothers born on March 8, 1932 to Ksenia and Mychajlo Nowakowski in Torki, Ukraine. After the war he and his family were resettled to Nadarzyce, Poland. There he met and married Kateryna Dlaboha in 1955. In 1963 they both immigrated to USA with their daughter and son for a better life for their family and were blessed with another daughter in 1967. He lived and worked for 32B-32J in N.Y.C. for many years. Mikolaj retired in 1997 and resided in Ardsley, N.Y. He is a parishioner of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church and was a long-time volunteer at Oselia, CYMA (Ukrainian American Youth Association). He was a true believer in God and lived for his family. He is survived by his daughter, Irene Bundziak, son Bohdan & his wife Bernadette of Carmel, N.Y. and his youngest daughter Luba Sydor and her husband Walter of White Plains, N.Y. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Andrew, Larissa, Christina, Daniel and Alexander and many nieces and nephews in New Jersey, New York and Poland. Donations in his memory can be made to St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yonkers, N.Y., or to St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church, New York, N.Y. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Pannakhyda Service, Friday, 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church on Saturday, December 17th at 10:00 a.m. Interment Holy Spirit Cemetery, Campbell Hall, N.Y.
