

Mitchell Valle-Longa, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Thursday June 14, 2012 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital. He was 76 years old. He was born on June 22, 1935 to Salvatore and Lillian Martin Valle-Longa in Bronx, N.Y. He graduated from Saunders Trade & Technical School in Yonkers and attended Westchester Community College for one year. Mr. Valle-Longa was a logistics technician for Cablevision in Yonkers for 21 years until his illness. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1960 and was stationed in the United States and Okinawa. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. He also donated generously to the St. Joseph Indian Association. On December 3, 1966, he married Leona Bliss in Yonkers. Mrs. Valle-Longa survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael Valle-Longa of Yonkers and a daughter, Michelle Vallelonga of Yonkers. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Jonathan and Alexxa. He was pre-deceased by one sister, Marion Lamb and two brothers, William Longa and Robert Vallee. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Saturday & Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Monday June 18th at 11 AM. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale.
