

Noemi Mendez (nee Caquias), a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Friday July 1, 2016 at her residence. She was 46 years old. She was born on September 19, 1969 to Bernardino and Rosael Montalvo Caquias in Yonkers where she was raised and educated. Mrs. Mendez was a cashier at the A & P Supermarket in Yonkers and previously was a teller at Regina Check Cashing & Financial Services in Yonkers. She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Yonkers. Her faith is what guided her to be more than just a mother. Noemi was a life partner, a sister, a daughter and a best friend. She was a fighter. She worked hard for what she believed in and took care of anyone in need. Noemi was intelligent, loving, reliable and kind, and treated everyone with respect. She enjoyed collecting frogs and butterflies when she wasn't taking care of her loved ones. On November 9, 2005, she married Josue Mendez in Yonkers. Mr. Mendez survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her parents Bernardino and Rosael Caquias of Deltona, FL, a daughter, Iris Noemi Mendez of Yonkers, a son, Josue Nathaniel Mendez of Yonkers, a sister, Iris Caquias of Yonkers and three brothers, Benny, Julio and Alberto Caquias, all of Yonkers. Noemi was predeceased by a sister, Rosemarie Leon, but always kept trying to remember her positive light and would want those around her to do the same for her. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday July 6th at 10am. At the family’s request, final disposition will be private.
