Born on St. Patrick’s Day in 1965, a birthday she shared with her father, Nora brought sunshine into everyone’s life. A lifelong Yonkers resident, Nora attended P.S 16, Emerson Middle School and Gorton High School. Nora had several careers - fitness center sales led to a successful career in real estate, but ultimately, her love for children returned her to the classroom. She graduated from Mercy College as an Occupational Therapy Assistant to work with special needs children. Nora loved being with children and thrived on being able to help them and watch them develop. She especially loved her nieces, Shannon Muller and Caitlin Gellas, and her nephews, Thomas Dunn, Brendan Dunn and Conor Dunn. They meant the world to her and she never missed an opportunity to attend one of their activities - from football games to twirling competitions to recitals and plays. Shannon’s wedding to Mier (who she also adored) was one of the highlights of her life. In addition, Nora’s unlimited capacity for compassion made her the perfect person to take care of her parents, Thomas and Mary Dunn. This role brought her so much joy. Nora’s parents, her nieces and nephews, her sisters and brothers and their spouses, Marybeth Dunn, Catherine and Pete Gellas, Tom and Maureen Dunn, and Jim and Beth Dunn, will all miss her greatly. Her loss will also be felt by her Uncle John Mullaly, her many cousins and an extraordinary number of friends. To quote Nora’s favorite author, Laura Ingalls Wilder, - “Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I’ll remember you all.” Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 5pm to 9pm at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home in Yonkers, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday October 23rd at 11am in Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.
