Pearl L. Smith

Pearl L. Smith (nee Doerr), a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Friday January 30, 2015 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital. She was 97 years old. She was born to Arthur and Beatrice O’Brien Doerr in Yonkers where she was raised and educated, attending Holy Eucharist School. Mrs. Smith was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Yonkers. On November 15, 1936, she married her loving husband, Daniel J. Smith in Holy Eucharist Church. Mr. Smith died September 21, 1996. Mrs. Smith is survived by one son, James Smith and three daughters, Mary Donnelly, Pearl Whalen and Rita Baldini and a sister, Beatrice Bunnenberg. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Daniel Smith, a grandson, Thomas Donnelly and a great grandson, Thomas Donnelly. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Wednesday February 4th at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
