Peter Krentsa, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Friday July 5, 2013 at his residence. He was 92 years old. He was born on June 23, 1921 to Frank and Katherine Protsek Krentsa in Pittsburgh, Pa. He was raised in Pound Ridge, N.Y. and educated in Yonkers where he graduated from Saunders Trade and Technical School. Mr. Krentsa was a facilities worker for the Westchester County DPW in Valhalla for about twenty years. Previously, he was a cabinet maker at Lehigh Furnishings in Yonkers for many years. Mr. Krentsa served his country proudly during World War II. He was stationed in Northern Italy, France and Africa. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds he received during the war. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church. His hobbies included woodworking and his wife and sons. On January 18, 1947, he married his loving wife, Margaret Walsh at St. Denis Church in Yonkers. They were married for 66 years. Mrs. Krentsa survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Robert Krentsa and his wife, Patricia of Ontario, N.Y., Kenneth Krentsa and his wife, Maureen of Stockbridge, Ma. and Jeffrey Krentsa and his wife, Kathryn of Brookfield, Ct. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, John, Frank and William Krentsa. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday 4-7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Anthony’s Church on Tuesday July 9th at 10 am.
