
Philip J. Lohrfink of Yonkers died on Saturday July 13, 2013 at age 72. Born in Yonkers,NY on June 19, 1941 to Philip H. and Anah Fowler Lohrfink. He attended School 16 and graduated from Gorton High School in 1959. He joined the Marine Corps. upon graduation and became a member of the elite 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company. His tours of duty took him to Africa, South America, Central America and Cuba. He graduated from Mercy College and was a 40 year employee of Gannett Suburban Newspapers, now known as the Journal News. He coached Little League, softball, and baseball at Bryn Mawr, football and baseball at the Colts Club, and girl’s softball at CYO. He was an active member of three parishes, Christ the King where he served many masses as an altar boy with Msgr. John Foley; St. Bartholomew’ s where he was a Eucharistic Minister, and for the last 25 years, Most Holy Trinity where he served on the parish council and was a proud basso profundo with the choir. He was passionately devoted to his family and his friends especially at Woodlawn, Van Nest, St. Barnabas, Westchester Square and Tremont. He is survived by his wife Ann of 48 years, his children Lauren Olinek (John), Jennifer Morfea (Luigi), and Jeffery Lohrfink (Tina), six grandchildren (Luke, Gabriel, Eva, Michael, Alexandra, and Nathaniel), many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday July 14, 2013 and Monday July 15, 2013 from 4 – 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday July 16, 2013 at Most Holy Trinity Church at 10am with Interment to follow at Kensico Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to N.Y.
