OBITUARY

Raymond H. Tuthill

August 31, 1949January 30, 2020

Raymond Howard Tuthill, better known to some as Butch, was born in Balitmore City, Maryland to Pearl and Raymond Tuthill, Sr. on August 31, 1949.

He passed on January 30, 2020, surrounded by family at Mount Sinai hospital in New York City after spending months battling cancer complications. Raymond grew up in Harlem, New York where he attended Rice all boys Catholic High School. After graduating from Rice in June of 1968, he went on to attend SUNY's Upstate Medical University where he achieved his Associates Degree in Applied Science in January 1971. From there Raymond continue his studies out west where he attended Arizona State University majoring in X-ray Technology. He attained his Bachelor of Science in June 1972 where he began his long career as an X-ray technician. In 1980 he joined the army to serve his country and was Honorably Discharged in June of 1981. Raymond then continued his career in New York where he only more recently retired in January of last year, 2019. As much of an intellectual as Raymond was, he also had a creative mind. He had a love for the arts. Aside from him enjoying a good Broadway play or Opera, he enjoyed creating art through painting, musical instruments and photography. Raymond loved the gracefulness of ballroom dancing and would be quick to show you his tango or teach you how to fox trot. And when it came to cinema, Raymond enjoyed a wide variety of movie genres but had a weakness for old western films, sci fi classics, and action packed movies with martial arts, like The Matrix. And above all else, he kept a lifelong appreciation for classic cars, clocks, collectors guns, coins, tribal masks and stamps. Raymond is survived by his 2 sons, Christopher James Tuthill and Sam Joseph Joshua Tuthill, his 2 daughters, India Rae Tuthill and Lynsey Maxine Tuthill, his brothers, George Robert Tuthill and Lester Nathaniel Tuthill, and his long time girlfriend Leliosa Lasola. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday February 12th at 11am. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Whalen & Ball Funeral Home 168 Park Ave. Yonkers, N.Y. 10703 (914)965-5488 www.whalenandballfh.com
