

Robert M. Amram, a resident of Yonkers since 1995, died on Wednesday June 17, 2015 at his residence in Yonkers. He was 68 years old. He was born on July 4, 1946 to Dr. Jack and Audrey Bohlman Amram in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Crete Monee High School in Crete Monee, Illinois and then he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Mr. Amram was most recently an accomplished saxophonist in Westchester County and New York City. Previously, he was the Vice President of the Radon Testing Corporation of America in Elmsford and prior to that, he was the head of the Chemistry Department at Nipsco Utility in South Bend, Indiana. His family said that “He created the Psychology Department at his alma mater, the Crete Monee High School”. On January 13, 1995, he married his loving wife, Dolores Alfano in Yonkers. Mrs. Amram survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his father, Dr. Jack Amram of Chicago, IL, two step sons, Anthony Porcaro of Dallas, TX and Daniel Porcaro of Philadelphia, PA, two brothers, Dr. James Amram and Dr. Jack Amram both of Crete, IL and two sisters, Dr. Peggy K. Amram of Crete, IL and Dr. Cindy J. Knox (nee Amram) of Fayettville, Arkansas. He was predeceased by his mother, Audrey Amram who died in 2004. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday June 23rd at 9:30am. Cremation will follow at Ferncliff Crematory in Hartsdale.
