Even after 2 years I can't believe he is gone. When I lived in  Eastchester, I commuted daily to NYC for work from Crestwood. He never missed a warm "Hello" or " Have a great day". We talked about everything, music, commute, life etc. Bob was warm, welcoming, always had time to listen. Thank you for the coffee and all your friendly advices you have had to me. I dearly miss you my friend. You are gone too soon. RIP

For those Crestwood train riders who never got to hear Bob play his sax you can search ITUNES and find under Bob Anram with a second n his CD Blank Canvas which you can imagine mixing a martini or two to remember Bob by. It sounds as though it is the theme music to The Campbell Apartment bar in GCT and really takes you back to a time gone by. Very relaxing beautiful jazz music !

Bob was a fantastic man and fellow musician who I got to know really well over the years riding the train from Crestwood. My best story about Bob will illustrate what a kind and caring people person he really was. In 2008 during the financial crisis I lost my job and he did not see me for a few weeks. The day of my first interview he asked me what happened and then told me that he and Claire had a rule and would buy my coffee and bagel every day until I found a new job ! I of course relented and joked Bob that could be a really long time and he then said "the last guy who didn't listen to me never found another job it is Karma you see". Once I heard that I said well OK if you put it out there like that I will take it ! I found a Job within four months and bought Bob and Claire a nice bottle of vodka each the first day I started my new job. He will be missed by me but I still have his wonderful Jazz Sax CD Black Canvas to remember him by. All the best to Bobs family and our deepest condolences.

Bob ,Thank you for all your incredible conversations. I only knew you from the Crestwood train station but I felt like I knew him for life. He always wanted to see video of my son playing baseball what a great man ! Rest in peace and God Bless the family!

Simply said - Bob was one of the kindest men I have encountered in my 46 years.  His good natured personality was immune to the hour of the day or the temperature in the air.  I regret not being able to say goodbye on the last day of the Crestwood Coffee shop.  Sympathies to Bob's family.  He is truly missed.

My condolences to Bob's family.  Bob and my brother, Ken, were good friends during school days.  Bob's sister, Peggy, and I were seven years younger than them.  Bob was the first person to demonstrate to me passion and dedication, and to expose me to jazz.  As a little kid I would be at the Amrams' house playing with Peggy, and Bob would be playing his sax in his room to records ALL THE TIME.  In an odd twist, later Bob taught a psychology course I took in high school, which was entertaining.   Bob was a fun, kind, engaging guy - so sad to lose him.   Rick Andre  (Atlanta)

Bob was one of my favorite people in school when I transferred to Crete High. 
He was just the best when it came to a conversation about music. John Coltrain was a favorite, and the sax his companion. How sad that he is gone; I wish you all comfort and peace.

Hearing Bob's playing was a formative experience. In performance he knew how to fill the room with musical feeling, and did.

We are heartbroken to hear of Bob's passing. We knew him from the Crestwood RR station. He become a very dear friend. He always had time to listen, with a kind word, so supportive. He was one of the most empathetic and kindest men we have ever known. He will be greatly missed. Our most sincere sympathies to Dee and Bob's family. Dee, he spoke of you so lovingly. A teacher who inspired a student for a lifetime:  It was Mr. Amram who recruited me into the high school jazz band (after gently suggesting that I pursue an instrument other than the trombone).  Having caught the bug, I played in bands on and off for the next forty years. Thank you, always, for the inspiration!

Bob was always a good friend to me, his last FB message to me was a sweet father-like message checking in to see if I had someone special in my life. I was thinking about him so much yesterday that I went to reply to his message and read a few messages on his FB and found out he had passed away suddenly. I'm sad, shocked and don't know what happened but I know that it's not important at this time. With love I'm sending all of his family members and loved ones much support and prayers during this difficult time. Bob was always kind, informative, compassionate, talented (he gave me his CD), and flirtatiously funny; he and Claire would always give me good luck free coffee when it was a big day for me. For a single Miami girl new to Crestwood Bob (and Claire) brighten my life daily. Rest in Peace my sweet friend  you are missed. xo

Hard to believe. Bob was a great friend from third grade through high school. We were in band together...he spent the night at my house and I, at his, several times. Great guy.
