Robert A. Eichhorn, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Wednesday February 14, 2018 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital. He was 86 years old. He was born on May 17, 1931 to John and Marie Sedler Eichhorn in Brooklyn where he was raised and educated. Mr. Eichhorn was a carpenter for the DPW in Yonkers for over twenty years until his retirement and was a member of Teamsters Local #456.. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952 and was stationed in Korea. He was a member of the American Legion Post 862 in Lake Luzerne, N.Y. Mr. Eichhorn was a former member of the Chippewa Club and he was responsible for the club’s remodeling. He enjoyed horseracing, the Empire City Casino and was an avid fan of the Mets and the Jets. On June 4, 1967, he married his loving wife, Barbara Murawski in Mamaroneck. Mrs. Eichhorn survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Donna Contrino of Yonkers, a son, Keith Eichhorn of Yonkers, a brother, John Eichhorn of Lake Luzerne, N.Y. and a sister, Blanche Eichhorn of New Rochelle. He is also survived by four grandchildren, John (Charissa), Nicholas (Alison), Victor and Brandon and one great granddaughter, Vera Rose. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Saturday February 17th at 11am. Final disposition will be private.
