Robert O'Dell

Robert O’Dell passed away on July 12, 2019 at age 86. He was born on July 27, 1932 to Robert and Marion Sniffen O’Dell in Peekskill, NY. Robert was a veteran of the US Navy and served during the Korean War on the destroyer USS Sarsfield. He was a Lieutenant in the Yonkers Fire Department for 37 years retiring in 1993. He married Ruth O’Sullivan in the Holy Rosary Church in Yonkers, she survives. Robert was a member of the Westchester Fire Officers Association for over 20 years, also he was a member of the Amackassin Club, NY State Police & Firefighters Retiree Association. He was an avid tennis player, he loved to play golf and refereed football and coached. He was a member of the North Yonkers Boys Club, a big NY Yankee fan and loved spending time with kids. He is survived by his wife Ruth O’Dell, 6 children Robert (Gina), Michael (Christine), Jerry (Stacey), Karen (Damon) Savino, Sharon (Ken) Kovalik and Colleen (Jim) Spring, 1 brother Donald O’Dell, 20 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Kim and 2 sisters Marion Koch and Sherry Williams. Visiting hours will be in the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3-6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Christ the King Church on Thursday at 12 noon. Interment will be for family only at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
