

Rodney was born on June 17, 1954 in The Bronx, NY to James and Elsie (Crippen) Campbell. He was raised in Washington Heights on 164th street in Manhattan and graduated from DeWitt Clinton High school in 1972. Immediately after high school, he started construction work with his brothers and his Uncle Albie. He worked as a carpenter and drywall taper for 40 years until his retirement in 2016.
Rodney was first and foremost passionate about his family. His other passions and hobbies included music in every form, stereo equipment, film, and fishing. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, playful nature, steadfastness, and resilience.
Rodney is survived by his children, Chantelle, Basil, Elisha, Huda, Iman, and Omar, his grandchildren, Indira, Mac, Chris, Cassidy, Scarlett, and Amber, his great grandchildren Zaida, Nylah, and Inaaya, and siblings, Alexander, Marc, James, and Sterling. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Elsie, and his older brother, Gerald.
His going home service will be held Tuesday July 7, 2026 from 10am - 1pm at Whalen and Ball Funeral Home at 168 Park Ave, Yonkers, NY 10703. Family and friends are invited to attend.
Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery, Yonkers, NY 10701.
