The son of the late Dr. Anthony M. DeAngelis and Carolyn Chambers Hutchison DeAngelis, Roger was born on September 9, 1941 in Yonkers, NY.
Dr. DeAngelis earned his medical degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. After completing his 5 year surgical residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York, he served in the United States Navy as Lieutenant Commander on the USS Constellation. Upon his return from Naval Service in 1974, he joined his father’s medical practice in Yonkers, NY. He was on the staff of St. John’s Riverside Hospital as an attending surgeon from 1974-2002 and served as chief of surgery for 10 years.
He was an active member and past president of the Westchester Surgical Society and served on the St. John’s Riverside Board of Trustees for many years. A family statement reads: “Roger was a soft spoken, kind and gentle man who was deeply loved by his family, co-workers and patients”. He will be missed greatly.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Barbara A. DeAngelis at home; his sons, Christian R. DeAngelis, Roger T. DeAngelis, III: his daughters, Lara E. DeAngelis, Mary F. DeAngelis, Rebecca M. DeAngelis; his step-children, Michelle Wright, Christina Ciraco and Vincent Ciraco; his grandchildren, Mina, Nolee, Logan, Mirabelle and Astrid; and his brothers, Robert and Richard DeAngelis.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 20, 2016 at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Avenue, Yonkers, NY from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. followed by Military Honors.
