World War II veteran Roy Roode, age 95, died Aug. 24, 2017. Loving husband of Vera Roode for 60 years, he is also survived by sister Edna Weinlein, nephews Bob LeRoy, Scott and Lance Weinlein, and niece Marna Bisaccio. He was born in Port Chester, NY and served 1942-1945 in 7 campaigns and 3 landings in Europe and Tunisia as a Sergeant in the Army 3rd division, 9th field. Prayer and remembrance are at Whalen and Ball, 168 Park Ave., Yonkers, 2-4 & 7-9 pm Sun. Aug. 27 & funeral service 10:30 am Mon. Aug. 28. He was a retired employee of Technicon Corp. (now Bayer). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the nonprofit "P-POD" (http://preventionofdisease.org/donate/) which educates physicians about using nutrition to prevent heart disease.
