She was born on August 2, 1930 in Maxton, North Carolina. She attended the Robeson County Training School (R.B. Dean) in Maxton, North Carolina. On January 15, 1950, she married the late Danny McCallum, and later moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina. In 1958, she moved to Yonkers, New York where she worked as a nurse’s aide, and in 1970 she was inspired to enter the field of nursing at Lawrence Hospital where she retired in 1992. She was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall. She was a resident at the Woodstock Manor on 755 Palisades Avenue, Yonkers, New York. She enjoyed field trips, dinners and events that were planned for seniors. She is survived by one sister, Carrie Lee Coleman of Fairmont, North Carolina, special nieces, Theresa Long, and Carrie Smith (David) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Debbie Bardsdale (Anthony) of Newburgh, New York, special nephews, Roderick Denman of Yonkers, New York, Charles McDaniel (Patricia) of Charlotte, North Carolina, special friends, Dianna, Patrick and Stephanie Blanding of Yonkers, New York and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday 9:30-10:30am. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday October 11th at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
