Silvia D. Hicks

Silvia D. Hicks, a beloved and devoted individual, passed away on July 15, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on July 11, 1942, in Suffolk, Virginia, Silvia was the cherished daughter of James and Gertrude Walker Beamon. She was raised and educated in Suffolk, where her kind-hearted nature and hard-working spirit were nurtured.

Silvia was a long-time resident of Yonkers, New York, having moved there in 1979. She dedicated many years of her career as a service representative for AT&T in Yonkers until her retirement. Her commitment to her community was evident through her involvement with the Football Parents Association at Gorton High School in Yonkers.

In her personal life, Silvia was predeceased by her husband, Jerry D. Hicks. She was the loving mother of two sons: Jerry D. Hicks, Jr., who resides in Aliso Viejo, California, and Derek Hicks, who passed away on February 19, 2014. She was also the proud grandmother of Andre Hicks, Melissa and Ricky, great grandmother of Asha and Allie and great grandmother of Derek. Silvia was predeceased by her four brothers, James and Alton Beamon and Carlton Zachary (Clarine Zachary), and Milton Zachary as well as her sister, Diane Beamon. A faithful friend Miss Florence B. Samuels, and sister in law Vickie Beamon.

Silvia was an all-round sports fan, a passion that complemented her vibrant personality and genuine kindness. Her memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday July 29th from 9 to 11am. Funeral service will take place in the funeral home on Tuesday July 29th at 11am. Final disposition is private.
