

He was born on June 8th, 1933, in Brooklyn, NY, to Michael & Natalia Sywak. When Stefan was two years old, the family immigrated back to Ukraine, where Stefan was raised, educated, worked and met his beloved wife, Vira. Growing up in the USSR, Stefan & Vira were sent away to work camps in Siberia. Stefan was an engineer by profession, and had a strong passion for machinery & cars. Stefan and his wife were residents of Yonkers for 25 years since immigrating back to the US from Ukraine. Besides his wife, Vira, Stefan is survived by his two daughters, Natalia Mikolaiski & Nadiya Sondey. His four grandchildren, Mark & Julianna Mikolaiski, Iryna Hauser & Andriy Sondey, as well as his great-grandchildren, Sophia & Zlata Sondey. He was an incredible man, who will be missed dearly and carried in our hearts always as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather. May he rest in eternal peace with God. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday morning 9-10:30am. Funeral Service will be celebrated in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church on Friday May 21st at 11am. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
