Stella (Anastasia) Chmara, 90, of Yonkers, NY, peacefully entered into rest October 22, 2013. She was born in Broadalbin, NY, on October 9, 1923, to Ukrainian parents Anna and Nicholas Lozuk from Galicia, Austria.
A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mrs. Chmara is survived by two daughters, Arlene Squazzo of Cary, IL, and Janet Chmara of Yonkers, three grandchildren, Robert Spera, Kelley Squazzo and Jessica Squazzo Poore, and one great granddaughter, Brittany Spera. She was predeceased by her husband, George Chmara, her parents and her siblings, Katherine, George, Sophie and John.
Mrs. Chmara served during WWII in the U.S. Navy Reserve as a WAVE (BUPERS, Arlington, VA). She will be remembered for her love of family, dance, music and the color purple. She was our bright star. Whalen & Ball Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. All services will be private.
