
Stephen J. Kosar, Jr., a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Friday February 10, 2017 at St. John’s Riverside Hospital. He was 81 years old. He was born on December 17, 1935 to Stephen J. and Dorothy Carson Kosar in Yonkers where he was raised and educated, graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1954. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Manhattan College in 1962. Mr. Kosar was a financial officer at U.S. Life Insurance Company in Neptune, N.J. for thirty three years prior to his retirement. He was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church and more recently of Christ the King Church. On August 18, 1956, he married his loving wife, Mary F. Spruck in Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, a marriage that lasted 60 years. Mrs. Kosar survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Stephen L. Kosar and his wife Sue and John M. Kosar. He is also survived by two grandsons, Michael S. Kosar and his wife Natalie and Joseph S. Kosar (Kim) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Catherine Knoblock. Visiting Hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the former Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Tuesday February 14th at 10:30am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
