Vidher Kumar Mehra, age 69, of White Plains, New York passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
Vidher Kumar Mehra was the middle son among five children born to a Punjabi family on March 23, 1955 in India to Kamlawati and Shamdass Mehra. He grew up in a loving family and adored his parents. His eldest brother Narsi Bhagat was one of closest friends, his oldest sister Sandhya guided him, while he was a father figure to Neel Kanth and Narvada, his youngest siblings.
Borne from a close relationship with his grandfather, Vidher grew up with a sincere heart and a desire to serve both God and people. He was selfless, personable, down to earth, kind, and always willing to lend a hand. He was proud of his roots, very active within the Hindu community, and had a passion for sharing Indian culture.
Vidher met the love of his life, Adarsh Bala, whom he cherished and affectionately called Puja, in December of 1980. They married just a few short months later on May 19, 1981. Over the next 43 years together they raised three beautiful daughters – Payal, Deepika, and Megha in a home filled with love and laughter. He lived every moment with an attitude of service and his family was his “duniya” (world).
He was an ambitious man with an entrepreneurial spirit. He leveraged imports and exports, capitalizing on numerous business opportunities. Seeking a better life for his family, he traveled from Punjab to Rajasthan, Delhi, and ultimately settled in the United States to provide for his family.
His proudest career achievements were at NY Life, where he became a partner. He was a great motivational speaker and a role model to so many people. He was constantly looking to learn and improve himself. In his free time, he would frequent Barnes & Nobles, tea shops, and Indian restaurants.
His favorite foods were kulche chole, black dal, chai, and he made the best onion pakoras. He loved eating and spending time with friends and family. His other pastimes included shopping for shoes and clothes. He loved dressing up, had a passion for posing for photos, and also enjoyed buying gifts for others.
Since 2016, he fought a courageous battle with the strength and support of his family. On April 25, 2024, he went to be with the Lord. Vidher was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his wife Adarsh (Puja), three daughters Payal, Deepika, Megha, sons-in-law Rinku and Samuel, and grandchildren Diya and Arjun. His legacy will continue to live on, and we look forward to seeing him in heaven again one day.
We love you so much, Papa!
