

William Dimitri Boytim, a resident of Toms River, NJ, who was born, raised, and resided in Yonkers, NY until 2003, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 8, 2017. He was 78. He was born on March 25, 1939 to Edward and Anna (Priputen) Boytim at St. John’s Riverside Hospital. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church in Yonkers, where he was one of Father Kosar’s first altar boys. He attended Yonkers Public Schools and graduated from Commerce High School in 1957. Bill earned an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Westchester Community College in 1959. Bill retired as Office Manager in 1989 after 28 years (1961-1989) of service at AT&T (formerly Western Electric). As a young boy, he held various jobs, including paper boy, caddy, and busboy at the Tap Restaurant in Bronxville, NY. While in college, he made miter boxes to sell and worked as a guard at Korvettes. Along with his uncle, Joseph Priputen, they became the first uncle/nephew steamfitter union members, where among other sites, they were part of the construction at Indian Point. After retirement, Bill drove limousines and performed radon testing for residences. He enlisted in the 101st Signal Battalion New York Army National Guard in 1960 as a Private and trained at Fort Dix. He was activated into the US Army Signal C Corps in 1961 at Fort Devens. He drove Duesenberg trucks and worked as a Radio Relay and Carrier Operator. Bill received commendations in Sharpshooting and achieved Specialist, Grade 4 rank. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Army in 1965 and returned to the National Guard for the remainder of his service. Bill met his beloved wife, Carol Anne Aromin, in January, 1965 in Yonkers. They were married October 9, 1965 at St. Eugene’s Church with a reception following at Patricia Murphy’s Candlelight Restaurant in Yonkers. They honeymooned in Niagara Falls. On October 9, 2015, Bill and Carol celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends. Bill was known for his devotion to his family. Along with his wife and daughters, he enjoyed yearly family vacations and spent many summers with his extended family at Peach Lake in North Salem, Long Island, the Jersey Shore, and camping in upstate New York. Bill loved animals and cherished bonding with all of his various family pets. Throughout his life, he loved to swim, play golf, bowl, and work in his vegetable garden. He appreciated the outdoors. Bill had a wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He was an avid New York Giants fan and enjoyed watching golf. Bill grew up a Brooklyn Dodgers fan and eventually became a fan of the New York Mets. He enjoyed listening to classic country and western, early rock and roll, and polka music. He enjoyed playing bingo and taking trips to racetracks and Atlantic City. Bill loved to drive and had an amazing sense of direction. He was a member of the Catholic Slovak Club in Yonkers and the American Legion in Toms River, NJ. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Anna, his two brothers, Edward III and Robert, and his infant son, Joseph. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol, his two loving daughters, Kimberly Ross (son-in-law, Frank Ross) of Danbury, CT and Karen Boytim of Toms River, NJ (boyfriend, Joseph Sozio). He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Lenore Boytim and Susan Aromin and brother-in-law, Melchor Aromin, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 11th, from 7-9 PM and Wednesday, April 12th, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM with Panachida Service at 8:00 PM. Funeral Service at St. Mary’s Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church on Thursday, April 13th at 10:00 AM. Interment follows at Mount Hope Cemetery. Breaking of Bread with family and friends immediately following at Castle Royale (formerly Polish Community Center). In lieu of flowers, please make donations in William’s name to your favorite Veterans or Animal charities.
