Winifred Persise

Winifred E. Persise (nee Cunningham) a lifelong resident of Yonkers died September 12, 2011. She was 87 Years old. She was born on March 9, 1924 to John and Winifred Donohue Cunningham. She graduated from Sacred Heart Grammar School and Blessed Sacrament Academy in 1942. Mrs. Persise is survived by her twin daughters Judy Persise, with whom she made her home and Jacqueline P. Walton and her husband Thomas P. Walton of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by one granddaughter Amanda Cunningham Walton of San Antonio. On February 1, 1950 she was married to John W. Persise at Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers. Mr. Persise passed away January 13, 1980. Mrs. Persise was employed as a secretary during the war years for Poirier & McLane Construction Co. She was then employed in the Personnel Department of the Yonkers Public Schools for 23 years. She was a member of the 3rd. Order of St. Francis of Sacred Heart Church and the Father Solanus Casey Society. Visitation will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday September 29, 2011 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church at 11 am September 30, 2011. Burial St. Joseph’ s Cemetery.
