

Gordon was the son of Thomas and Hazel Knight. Born on August 12, he was delivered at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley, California. He lived on Colby Street where his father, a well-known real estate agent, had his office, and his mother was the Superintendent of Nurses at Children's Hospital in San Francisco.
For secondary education, Gordon went to the University of California in Berkeley. After graduation he continued at Naval OCS in Newport, Rhode Island. He married Diane Reynolds and graduated from OCS where he was commissioned a LTJG USN. He worked as a Naval Intelligence agent.
In the ensuing years, Gordon and Diane had a growing family of three children. He became a Mason just like his dad. After an honorable discharge, he went to work for Sears, Roebuck and Company.
Gordon worked in a number of positions at Sears. He was National Security Manager in Chicago and was on the team that built the Sears Tower. He was a talented manager of people and went into Catalog Operations as a Superintendent in Boston and Los Angeles. He finished his twenty-eight-year career, at Sears as Regional Distribution Manager for the West Coast.
Gordon was a kind, generous and wonderful man. He cared for his employees and their families. He gave of his time while in East Los Angeles. He was on the Board of the ELA YMCA.
Gordon continued to work after his Sears retirement. He spent twenty years with Rod Dedeaux running a company for DART INTERNATIONAL. After his DART retirement, he continued to be active.
Gordon was a member of Yorba Linda Country Club. He was on the Board of Directors for three years. He was an avid golfer. He was also a daily reader of newspapers and kept up with current events and his favorite team, the 49ers. He enjoyed spending his time being involved in his family's welfare.
He will be dearly missed.
Gordon is survived by his second wife Patty; his children, Linda (John) Tracy and David (Patty) Knight; 4 nieces; 6 nephews; 4 cousins; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Gordon was preceded in death by his first wife Diane, his son Robert, and two half-brothers John and Tom.
