

On Saturday, February 23, 2019, with his loving wife Rose, son Michael and daughter Jeanmarie at his side, Harold (Hal) James Wenger, of Anaheim, California, passed away peacefully at age 88 at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, California after a brief illness.
Born on June 1, 1930 in Canton, Ohio, to the late Harold and Agnes (Tournoux) Wenger he spent his early years in Ohio moving west throughout his childhood before settling in Southern California. He graduated from St. Anthony high school in 1947 and studied at California State University Sacramento. From 1947 to 1952 and 1955 to 1959, Harold served in the Navy Reserve. He also served in the Army from 1952 to 1954, as well as serving in the Army Reserve from 1954 to 1955. After his years of service to his country, Harold joined the Long Beach Police Department as a Police Officer until his retirement in 1983. After his retirement he spent many years volunteering at the Children’s Hospital of Orange working closely with children with Cystic Fibrosis. Harold also enjoyed genealogy tracing his ancestry back several generations. He was a member of Long Beach Police Officers Association.
Harold was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Terrence, and Jude; and sister, Marleta Topoleski Lessley and former wife, Martha Jean. Harold is survived by his loving wife and best friend Rose; son, Michael (Lorena); daughter, Jeanmarie (David) Centeno; stepsons, Victor Villani and Peter (Dina) Villani; sister-in-law Nell Wenger; grandchildren, Blayne, Jennifer, Michael Jr, Stephanie, Luciano, Giana, Kayla and Melody; great-grandson, Gabriel; nieces, Karen, Sharon, and grand-nieces Genesis and Taylor; and nephews, Terrence Jr (Stacey), Rob (Jill), Christopher, and grand-nephew Kobe.
Friends and family are welcome to attend the visitation on Wednesday, March 13 from 5:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by the Rosary Service from 7:00 p.m. at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary - Yorba Linda, 18311 Lemon Dr., Yorba Linda, California, 92886. The funeral mass will be Thursday, March 14 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church, 5800 E Santa Ana Canyon Rd, Anaheim, California, 92807. Burial will immediately follow the funeral mass at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, California, 92518.
