

John Robert Cassidy "Jack" (Age 85) passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. Jack resided in Yorba Linda, California for the last 46 years. Jack was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Robert and Grace (Holder) Cassidy, but moved to Long Beach, California, as an early teenager where he graduated from Jordan High School. He went on to receive a Degree from Long Beach City College, taking a two-year break from his studies to serve his country in the Korean War. He married his first wife Carol in 1956 and they adopted four children and had another daughter together. They divorced in 1988. He married his “sweet Lucy” in 1993. Jack went on to have a very successful career with North American Aviation/Rockwell/Boeing for the next 42 years, retiring in 1997 as a Division Director. Jack set high work standards for himself and his family. He always had a second job whether it be an Orange Julius stand, the Gem Movie Theatre or a variety of other business ventures. He taught Logistics locally and throughout the world with several educational institutions including Pacific States University from which he received an honorary Doctorate Degree in 1980. When the kids were young, he loved to camp, both in Idyllwild with his sister Marilyn’s family and in the High Sierras. After retirement he and Lucy cherished each other's company, often vacationing in faraway places, cruising, playing Keno, horse racing and gardening at home with an emphasis on succulents.
Jack is survived by his brother Danny Cassidy, his wife Lucy (Gasca), his first wife Carol (Neidermann), their five children, Jeffrey, Stephen, Connie (Kelly), Christine (Kinne) and Catherine (Lewis); thirteen grandchildren, Jeffery, David, Michael, Sarah, Grace, Ben, Cherish, Trenton, Cassidy, Zoe, Palmer, Rece and Autumn; and by twelve great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by 7 stepchildren, 7 step grandchildren and 7 step great- grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 17130 Bastanchury Road, Yorba Linda, CA 92886 on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. with a public visitation prior from 10:00-10:45 a.m. He will be laid to rest at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, 7845 E. Santiago Canyon Rd. Orange, CA 92869.
