It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Monika Kief beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, accomplished tennis player, savvy businesswoman, and passionate animal advocate. Monika passed away peacefully on January 20th at the age of 97.
Born in Munich, Germany in 1928, she grew up with a love for competition and a keen sense of style. She excelled as a tennis player and was a force to be reconned with at her local tennis club. Her competitive spirit was matched only by her sharp business acumen, which led her to success in real estate. She owned and managed apartment complexes from California to Michigan. She never hesitated to put on her own work gloves and get to work maintaining her sites at her own high standards.
Monika prided herself on being impeccably well-dressed, always carrying herself with a sense of elegance and poise. Whether at work or at play, she never missed a chance to present herself as a reflection of her inner confidence. Yet, it was her generosity that made her unforgettable. Monika was especially dedicated to helping animals, often seen caring for injured ducks at the local lake. Her kindness knew no bounds as she lovingly nursed them back to health, and in a heartwarming display of gratitude, many of these ducks returned to her home with their ducklings, trusting her to care for them as well.
Monika is survived by her loving daughter, granddaughter, and her great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to local animal shelters to continue to help those in need.
Monika will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, her generosity, and the profound impact she had on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
