

Norma Jean Olaerts passed away peacefully at her home in Mission Viejo, California on Thursday, April 21st, 2022. She was born on March 5, 1934 in Jacksonville, Illinois to John Wilbur “J.W.” and Helen Marie Cully. After graduating from Jacksonville High School in 1952, she worked at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired. She relocated to Chicago a few years later and started a family. Eager for a new beginning, she moved West and settled in Orange County, California where she met the love of her life, Anthony “Tony” Olaerts. They were married in 1963 and made their life in Placentia, California raising their family of four children. They were married over 47 years when her beloved Husband, Tony passed away in 2011.
Norma Jean is preceded in death by her parents, John Wilbur “J.W.” and Helen Marie Cully and her Brother, Gerald “Lee” Cully.
Norma Jean is survived by her four Children, Daughters, Terry Lyn Roberts; Annette Marie Young and her husband, Frank; and her Sons, Gregory Phillip Halstead and his wife, Barbara and Jeffrey Jon Halstead and his wife, Lynette. Norma Jean is also survived by her Sister, Janet Mae Mulch and her husband Gilbert as well as one Sister-in-Law, Anna Holcomb.
Norma Jean is also survived by eight Grandchildren and fourteen Great Grandchildren.
Norma Jean enjoyed old classic movies and she was an avid reader – to say she read over 1,000 novels is likely an understatement. Norma Jean and Tony travelled both domestically and internationally – but, of all the destinations they visited, Paris, France, was by far her favorite.
Norma Jean was a strong woman. She loved our Lord Jesus Christ and her family. She is and will always be dearly missed by her loved ones.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 18th, 2022 from 2-4 PM at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary in Yorba Linda, California.
Final Funeral Service will be private.
