Theresa Darlene Wielenga

Theresa Darlene (Wilgenbush) Wielenga passed away May 13, 2019 in Yorba Linda. Theresa was born October 25, 1933 in St. Mary’s, IA to parents Barbara and Milton Wilgenbush. She married in 1958 and spent 35 years with her husband Burt before he passed away. An alumna of St. Joseph Academy and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines, IA, and Chapman University in Orange, CA, Theresa worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 years, including 25 years with St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton. An avid reader of fiction and history, Theresa was most proud of seeing all five of her children and two grandchildren, graduate from college, with two more grandchildren on their way to doing the same.

Theresa is survived by her five children, Michael Wielenga of Fullerton, CA; Lisa Hillis of Corona, CA; Leslie Byers of Chino Hills, CA; Kristin Wielenga of Placentia, CA; and Laurie Wielenga of Anaheim Hills, CA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Bradley Hillis, Kelly Hillis, Brianne Byers, and Katelyn Byers; her brother, Larry Wilgenbush of Bethel Island, CA; and sons-in-law, Bill Hillis and Bill Byers. She is preceded in death by her husband Wilbur "Burt" Wielenga and her brother Leonard Wilgenbush.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Monday, May 20 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 717 N Bradford Ave, Placentia. Burial will follow at Loma Vista Memorial Park at 701 East Bastanchury Road, Fullerton.
