Curtis’ legacy will continue to live through his wife, children, brothers, sisters-in-laws, a host of nieces and nephews and anyone who had the pleasure of sharing a casual conversation with him. Curtis loved and cared for others deeply.
Curtis continuously reviewed, improved and implemented his plan for success. He started as a 1975 graduate of York Vocational High School and immediately moved forward obtaining a BA- Social Work from Shippensburg University and an MA- Human Resources Management from Saint Francis University. In addition, he was most proud of his Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) Certification. This was another tool in a satchel of many skills for a life of caring for others. After college, Curtis lived a full life with an increasingly expressive 35-year professional career not limited to a single industry but thoroughly anchored in his faith and passion for education, totally committed in being a voice for others. He worked professionally with a people first change-agent approach for a local utility company, sales, manufacturing, education and consulting.
If you met Curtis, he knew you, and didn’t hesitate to find any opportunity for a shared engagement to learn and grow. Clearly, his commitment for caring was a legacy extension of the passion his parents lived through him. Curtis had a deep and strong faith in God and continuously worked to strengthen his commitment. His family worshipped as members of Bethel A.M.E. Church and Friendship Baptist Church of York. He enjoyed the privilege serving in various roles teaching and learning in Bible Study and Sunday School instruction. Additionally, he held leadership roles with several community organizations (YMCA and Community Progress Council). Curtis’ legacy will continue to live through his wife, children, brothers, a host of nieces and nephews and anyone who had the pleasure of sharing a casual conversation with him.
