

Pearl quietly departed this life at home on Saturday February 17, 2018.
She was educated in the York Public School System and graduated from William Penn Senior High School in 1970. Pearl earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Shippensburg University, a Master of Education degree from Millersville University and Cooperative Education Certification from Penn State University.
She was a Business Education major and taught business classes at McCaskey High School for 33 years. Pearl managed the school book store and Cooperative Education placements and scheduling. As faculty advisor, Pearl was instrumental in establishing the McCaskey Gospel Choir, helped with the Black History Club and the Future Business Leaders club.
She was a member of “Emmanuel Church Of God In Christ” all of her life. Pearl accepted Christ in her youth and has worked diligently in many capacities in her church. She was a Choir member, on the finance committee, Vice President of Church Council, member of the Missionary Circle, facilitated the annual church retreat, Susquehanna Valley District Financial Secretary, BMA committee member and a member of Emmanuel’s St. Joseph School Committee.
Pearl’s work history includes years at Allis Chalmers in the personnel office, Schmucks Dry Cleaners, JC Penny’s, The Prescott House and the School District of Lancaster.
Pearl cared so much for her family, her church family and her students. She was known as the chief encourager.
She planned family reunions, special activities for children and was always “there” for us. She gave the best gifts!
Pearl has enjoyed life and travelled this country and abroad, from Alaska to Florida, the Bahamas and Jamaica.
Pearl leaves to mourn three sisters Mary Ellen Baxter (Nathan) of Harrisburg, Lily Graham (David) of York, and Rosalyn Walker of Harrisburg; one brother Ralph Walker Jr. (Ruth) of York. Others who mourn her are aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children and a host of relatives and friends.
In addition to her grandparents and parents Pearl was preceded in death by two siblings.
We wish to thank all of the family and friends who came out to support us and those who sent expressions of love and sympathy with cards, flowers and gifts.
