In memory of Augustine John Zigler. Born July 12, 1942, the eldest of 8 siblings to Jacob and Rose Zigler. Augie, as we all knew him; was a man who never had wants or misgivings. Augie was a strong, passionate personality who always strived to be one of “The Guys”. You cannot speak of Augie without mentioning this exclusive club that he was leader of….A group of brothers, an exclusive membership consisting of Brothers, Alex Michael and Jacob. They formed a club of sorts as they each came into this world battling Special Needs; that in many ways defined them in their day but never limited their spirit.
We remember and honor Augie as now…”the Band is Back”, as some would say. Augie joined his brothers in Heaven March 10, 2023. Augie passed from this world at home peacefully, with those who loved him most.
Augie lived a content life with his younger sister, his confidant and nurturer, Elizabeth Ann McLeod and younger brother John Zigler, his hero and best friend. They took the very best care of him, and he wanted for nothing. Augie was filled with love and gratitude for your dedication to his wellbeing. Our family, whom went before you were waiting to welcome you with open arms and are rejoicing at your arrival.
Augie was preceded in death by his Father, Jacob and Mother Rose Zigler, Brothers- Jacob and Alex Michael Zigler, Sister- Catherine Black, Brothers In Law- Richard Forshee, Douglas Black, Ray Albert McLeod and most recently, Alfred Atkins. Nieces- Sarah and Celia Forshee and Nephew- John Allen Zigler. Augie is survived by his Brother- John James Zigler, Sisters- Rosemarie Atkins, Elizabeth Ann McLeod and Irma Forshee. Nieces- Teresa Smith, Kimberly Wintz, Mary Jones and Nicole Collier, Nephews Michael Atkins and Jared Zigler, Rick Forshee and Clay Forshee. There are numerous Great nieces and nephews that all knew and love Augie.
Augie, even though he had some limitations, led a very full life. Augie attended elementary school up to the 3rd Grade in Commerce City, Co. He lived many years of his life in Alaska he was overjoyed to work in Janitorial positions for private Family Owned companies and for the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Augie loved working, he was a hard worker and an audacious flirt. He always had an eye for the ladies!
Augie shared stories of his adventures of road trips with anyone who would take a minute to speak with him. With his eldest sister, Rosie and late brother in -law Al, he explored the east coast and his greatest adventure a trip to Disney World. Augie was also a photographer. He loved cameras and capturing special moments. Augie was a creative spirit. He loved arts and crafts, painting model cars and ceramics. Painted bird housesbecame his trademark…a special gift every year for those he loved.
Augie was quite animated and could belt out a tune with the best of them. Your voice will be missed as you pour out heart and soul into those old Western Classics, Johnny Cash, Gene Autry, Kenny Rogers …now with the heavenly choir…..
We know you are at Peace in the presence of God and know we will see you again our sweet brother, Augie.
