Carmella Major went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Peoria, Arizona. She was born in Rome, NY on July 21, 1928, to Dominick and Antoinette (Fanfarillo) Cianfrocco. Carmella was one of eight children. She was predeceased by her children John Lowell of Oneida, NY and Catherine Bird of Rome, NY as well as her brother Joseph Cianfrocco and sister Pauline Madonia. She is survived by her brothers Dominick Cianfrocco and Luciano Cianfrocco of Rome, NY, Fernando Cianfrocco of Oneida, NY and her sisters Betty Wamby of Rome, NY and Rosine Page of Nashau, NH. She leaves behind seven grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.
Carmella married John Major on July 17, 1982, in Syracuse, NY. They moved to Peoria, Arizona in 1985. Carmella retired from US Air after 25 years of service. She enjoyed crocheting and dancing in her retirement. She and John won many dance contests in Arizona and Nevada. They were affectionately known as "Grandma and Grandpa" to many in the clubs there.
Carmella will be laid to rest with her husband at National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona with arrangements by Advantage Golden Door Chapel of Youngstown. Arizona. In honor of John's military service, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.
