

Donald R. Johnson was born in Leesville, Louisiana on August 29, 1956, and departed this life on August 4, 2026, at the Mayo Clinic hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.
He attended Leesville public schools and graduated with honors from Leesville High School in May of 1976. He later attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana where he earned a bachelor's degree in business.
On December 31, 1987, Donald married the love of his life, (Ethel)Yvonne Lee. They were blessed with more than 38 years of marriage built on love, faith, and mutual respect.
Donald accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the New Willow Baptist Church. After relocating to Huntsville, Alabama to pursue his federal government career, he became and remained a faithful member of Progressive Union MB Church where he enjoyed serving with the security ministry. He was also an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity (Huntsville, Alabama).
Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Helen Johnson; sister, Mary Ann Mitchell; and stepsons Jerwaun Cortez and Norman Jemar.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Yvonne; brothers, Ted Johnson (Molly) and Robert Charles Johnson (Adrienne); sister, (Ruby) Lee Johnson Lunz; three grandchildren, Jemar, J'Mya, and Ja'Kai; three great- grandchildren, Emery, Ariel, and Haleigh; God-son, Jayden Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and good friends.
Donald enjoyed football, music, and traveling; however, he will best be remembered for his passion for family unity and genuine friendship.
