

Surrounded by the love of her family, Elvira “Evita” Urueta passed away on April 8, 2026, at the age of 80. Born April 22, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Jose Marquez and Praxedis Mayorga of Chihuahua, Mexico.
Elvira lived a full and meaningful life, defined by her deep love for others — especially her family and grandchildren. A woman of strong faith, she found purpose in serving those around her. She took great joy in cooking, crocheting, gardening, and visiting the casino. Christmas held a special place in her heart; she faithfully upheld family traditions by preparing homemade tamales and menudo each year, a practice she lovingly continued until the end.
She was married for 56 years to her devoted husband, Pedro Urueta (deceased). She leaves behind her four children: Manuel (Margie) Urueta, Ivonne (Michael) Cacy, Pedro (Sommer) Urueta, and Carla Herrera. She is also survived by her treasured grandchildren: Jonathan (Jacqueline) Cacy, Promise Bood, Diamond Urueta, Jose Manuel Jr. Urueta, Jacob Urueta, Alyssa Herrera, and David Herrera. Her step‑grandchildren, Dominic Ceballos and Carley Ceballos. Elvira is additionally survived by her dearest friend of many years, Maria (Nena) Ramos, whose companionship and unwavering friendship were a cherished blessing throughout her life.
Mass services will be held on June 6, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Alamogordo, New Mexico. The Rosary will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
